Flora and Fauna in India
India has a wide variety of flora and fauna. It has such a wide variety that it is one of the richest countries in the world in biological diversity. India has about 8 percent of the total number of species in the world. There are still millions of species that have not been discovered in the forests of India.
Neglect of our environment has led to the destruction and extinction of many species of animals and plant life. The cheetah, pink-headed duck, mountain quail, forest spotted owlet are some of the endangered species, similarly plants like madhuca insignis and hubbardia heptahedron are almost extinct now.
