Image Formation in Lenses using Ray Diagrams

1.Ray Passing Through the Optical Centre

As stated earlier, in the case of a thin lens, this ray goes through the lens without suffering any deviation.

2. Ray Parallel to the Principal Axis

This ray, after refraction through the lens, converges to the focus (in the case of a converging lens) or appears to diverge from the focus (in the case of a diverging lens).

3. Ray Passing through the Focus

The ray that actually meets at the principal focus (as in a converging lens) or appears to pass through principal focus (as in a diverging lens) is rendered parallel to the principal axis after refraction through the lens.
