Figures on Same Base and Between the Same Parallels

Two figures are said to be on the same base and between the same parallels , if they have a common base and the vertices opposite to the common base lie on a line parallel to the base.

In the above figure ΔABE and parallelogram ABCD are on the same base AB and between the parallels AB and EC.

Example : Which of the following figures lie on the same base and between the same parallels.
Write the common base and two parallels.

Figure (i) the two triangle has a common base AB, but not between the same parallels.
