# Area of a Triangle Using Heronâ€™s Formula

The formula given by Heron for the area of a triangle, is also known as Heronâ€™s formula.

If a, b, c are the sides of a triangle, itsÂ perimeter is given by :

p = a + b + c = 2s , where

*s*= semi-perimeter andÂ Â

Heronâ€™s formula is used for finding the area of a scalene triangle and when the height of the triangle is not known.

Area of the triangle in terms of the sides of the triangle is given by:

This formula is called 'Heron's formula'.

Find the area of a triangle whose sides are 56 cm, 60 cm** **and 52 cm.**Â **

Solution :

Here a = 56 cm, b = 60 cm and c = 52 cm
