Establishment of the Racial State

As soon as the Nazis came to power, they wanted to establish a racial community of pure and healthy Nordic Aryans who deserve to prosper and multiply. They considered the others as ‘undesirable’, impure, abnormal and had no right to exist’.

The communities that were classified as ‘undesirable’ were

  • The Jews, Gypsies and the blacks. The blacks and the gypsies were considered as racially inferior and threatened the purity of the Superior Aryan Race. So, they were persecuted.
  • Russians and Poles were considered subhuman and so deserved no humanity. When Germany occupied Russia and Poland  the civilians were made slave labourers. It was said that many of these slaves died due to hard work and starvation.
  • Nazi hatred for Jews
Jews were subjected to traditional Christian hostility as the killers of Christ and Usurers (money lenders charging excessive interest). They lived in a separately marked area called Ghettos. Hitler’s hatred of Jews was based on the pseudoscientific theories of race. As such, Hitler held that the Jewish problem could be solved only through their total elimination. So, from 1933 to 1938 the Nazis terrorized, pauperised and segregated the Jews to compel them to leave the country. From 1939 to 1945 the Jews were concentrated in some areas and later killed in  gas chambers in Poland.
