Phytic Acid

Phytic acid is an alphahydroxy acid with a large molecular weight. Phytic peel is composed of three hydroxyl acids with Phytic acid i.e Glycolic acid, Lactic acid and Mandelic acid.

The 3 AHA’s have different rates of penetration in the epidermis. The Phytic acid is a large inositol Hexaphosphoric acid which fights & neutralizes free radicals, and promotes cell regeneration. NO FROSTING should appear.(frosting in case of retinol or exfoliating agents have been used.)  Phytic peel works best for acne residual lesions with early erythematous or pigmented scars of grade1 or 2. Glycolic acid works on regeneration, Mandelic on antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, Lactic acts as a hydrant and rejuvenating base. This is a slow-release, mild superficial peel that is safe for all skin types. It is also useful for sensitive skin. It also has strong antioxidant properties. It is found naturally in cereals such as rice and wheat bran.

Advantages: It does not require neutralization. It is a slow, superficial peel for those who don’t want a visible flaking of the skin. It can be used safely in all skin types. It evens out the complexion and has a marked tightening effect. It can be repeated once in two weeks to achieve the maximum results.

Disadvantages- Since its a superficial peel, its useful only for mild epidermal conditions like superficial hyperpigmentation, smoothening the skin. Requires multiple applications for effect
