Physiological Changes in Pregnancy
"Hegar's sign" can be elicited in: (LQ)
a. Hegar's sign can sometimes be recognized between and 10th week of pregnancy.
b. On bimanual examination, the lower part of the uterus is easily compressed between the fingers placed in the vagina and those of the other hand over the pelvic area.
c. This is due to the softening of lower segments of the uterus and to the fact that the fetus does not fill the uterine cavity at this stage, leaving an empty space in the lower part.
