18. Short chain fatty acid produced by bacteria are maximally absorbed in (LQ)
I. Shot chain fatty acids- (SCFA) →
a. SCFAs are two to five carbon weak acids; about 60% of this total is acetate, 25% propionate, and 15% butyrate.
b. They are produced by the action of colonic bacteria on complex carbohydrates, resistant starches and other component of the dietary fibers.
c. They are produced in the colon and absorbed from it (colon).
II. Long-chain —fatly acids → greatest part of LCFAs are absorbed in upper part of the small Intestine, but appreciable amounts are also absorbed in the ileum; 90% or> of the ingested fat is absorbed.
