1). A very common type of localized hyperpigmentation is chloasma, this facial pigmentation may be part of the increased pigmentation of pregnancy or may occur independently

2). The cheeks, nose, chin, forehead are the most commonly affected in this so-called "masks of pregnancy"

3). Chloasma - is also called melasma or seborrhoeic melanosis, very superficial macular area of brownish pigmentation.

Causes

1). Pregnancy (due to estrogens or progesterone)

2). OCP users

3). Unmarried girls due to disturbance of menstrual cycle

4). Persistent anemia

5). Disorders of the liver
