A boy undergoes eye surgery under day care anesthesia with succinyl choline and propofol and after 8 hours he starts walking and develops muscle pain. What is the cause? (AIPG 2007)
|B||Due to the effects of eye surgery|
Succinyl choline causes muscle pain due to persistent depolarization. Incidence is 40-50%. It can be prevented by precurarisation with non depolarizing muscle blocker. It is the most common drug to cause malignant hyperthermia.
