A patient presents with head injury and severe musculoskeletal pain. All the following drugs can be given except (AIIMS Nov 2009)
Morphine is contraindicated in patients with head injury because:
a. By retaining carbon dioxide it increases intracranial tension which will add to that caused by head injury itself;
b. Even therapeutic doses can produce marked respiratory depression in these patients; and
c. Vomiting, miosis and altered sensorium produced by morphine interfere with assessment of progress in these cases.
