AMIFOSTINE is protective to all except
a. Amifostine is a cytoprotective drug forming a thiol metabolite. It is particularly useful in preventing the cytotoxcity of DNA binding region.
b. It is used to reduce xerostomia, nephrotoxicity associated with cisplatin. It is particularly effective in reducing neutropenia associated fever and other infections.
c. The drug can be given itrarectally for cytoprotection following radiotherapy. Serious skin reactions can occur due to this drug.
