Posterior Abdominal Wall

It is an osseo-musculo-fascial wall and extends from the last rib to the pelvic brim. It is made up of: (i) bony part:-lumbar vertebrae, inner surface of lower ribs, iliac fossae and alae of sacrum; (ii) muscular part: - psoas major, sometimes psoas minor, quadratus lumborum and aponeurotic origin of transversus abdominis, iliacus; and (iii) fascia part: -fascia iliaca, thoraco-lumbar fascia.
