Question

Absorption of fats is associated with all except

A Pancreatic lipase
B Colipase

C Gastric lipase
D Bilirubin

E Bile salts

Ans. D bilirubin

a. Bile salt have considerable ability to lower the surface tension enables them to emulsify the fat in intestine and to dissolve fatty acid and water insoluble soaps. It is an important adjuvant to accomplish the digestion and absorption of fats as well as fat soluble vit. K, A, E, D

b. Digestion of dietary lipid in mouth and stomach — by Lingual lipase and gastric lipase respectively. Lingual lipase is secreted by Ebner’s gland of tongue.

c. Digestion of lipid fat in duodenum and small intestine major site of fat digestion is small intestine — by pancreatic lipase steapsin

d. Pancreatic juice has been shown to contain a number of lipolytic enzyme: -

e. Pancreatic lipase Steapsin

f. Phospholipase A2

g. Cholesterol esterase.

h. Colipase:- Bile salt help, in combination of lipase with two molecule of small protein called as COLIPASE — in intestinal lumen. The combined Lipase and colipase has two effects: -.

i. Enhances the lipase activity

j. Protect the enzyme against inhibitory effects of bile salts and against surface denaturation

k. Bilirubin Catabolic product of haem of Hb, waste product, that is conjugated with glucuronic acid and excreted in bile. In fact Bilirubin unconjugated — harmful to body. Has no role in digestion and absorption.

Ca++ facilitates lipase action.
