Adrenaline acts on which enzyme in glycogenolysis?

A Glucokinase

B Hexokinase

C Phosphorylase

D Glue diphosphatase

Ans. C Phosphorylase

i. Epinephrine (Adr), Norepinephrine and Glucagon these all activate — Adenyl cyclase →↑cAMP

ii. CAMP: activate Protein Kinase, this enzyme phosphorylates the phosphorylase (i.e.

phosphorylated phosphorylase kinase ‘a’ is active form of enzyme of glycogenolysis and

therefore es the glycogenolysis).

- Dephosphorylated form of enzyme i.e. phosphorylase kinase ‘b’ is inactive form, this dephosphorylation is increased by Insulin, and thereby glycogenolysis is inhibited.

b. cAMP: phosphorylates the glycogen synthase that is - phosphorylated glycogen synthase ‘b’ is inactive form and therefore, inhibit the glycogen synthesis (glycogenesis)

* Dephosphosphorylated form of this enzyme i.e. Glycogen synthase ‘a’ is active form, ed by Insulin, and therefore Insulin es the glycogen synthesis (glycogenesis).

c. Glucokinase the enzyme of glycolysis its activity is increased by Insulin and decreased by glucagon (as in starvation and Dm).

d. Glu-6-phosphatase: the enzyme of final step of glycogenolysis its activity is decreased by Insulin and feeding state, and increased by Glucagon, Epinephrine and glucocorticoids (DM and starvation).
