b. Pharmacological treatment

i) Mild

• Inhalation of short acting F, receptor agonist, e.g. salbutamol (albuterol)

• lf there is no satisfactory response, add inhaled anticholinergic (ipratropium).

• In patients who are refractory to inhaled therapies, i.v. uminophylline (theophylline) may be eJfective.

ii) Moderate and severe

• Oxygen plus Systemic steroids plus

• Continuous administration of aerosolized salbutamol
