Treatment of P Versicolor - Caused by Pityrosporum ovale

1). Oral fluconazole—400mg single dose

2). Topical imidazole drugs miconazole, Clotrimazole or econazole, ketoconazole cream/shampoo, applied once daily 6 weeks

3). Local application of selenium sulphate shampoo for 15 minutes before bath daily once a day for the first week than an alternate days during the following 2 or 3 weeks

4). Oral agent itraconazole for 7-12 days has recently been introduced.
