Injuries of Lower Limb
All the following indicate that the intramedullary kuntcher nail is properly seated except
|A||Eye faces posteromedially|
|B||Slot facing posteromedially|
|C||The proximal end about 2.5 em proximal to the trochanter|
|D||The distal end at about the level of the superior end of patella|
Slot facing posteromedially
a. When a kuntscher intramedullary nailing is done all the following indicate a properly seated nail-its eye faces posteromedially and the slot faces anterolateral (Tensile surface), its proximal end not more than 2.5 cm proximal to the trochanter.
b. The distal end of the nail should extend to the proximal end of the patella. The position of slot facing posteromedially is not a ideal fixation.
