Who Eligibility Criteria For Reversible Contraceptives

The contraceptive methods are organized into four categories:

Category 1: No restrictions of use.

Category 2: Advantages of using the method outweigh the theoretical or proven risks.

Category 3: Theoretical or proven outweigh the advantages of using the method.

Category 4: Use of the method presents unacceptable health risks. For most of the cases, eligibility can be determined by taking client's medical history only. Physical examination and laboratory tests are not generally necessary.

Categories 1 and 4 are self-explanatory (category 1 denotes indications and category 4 indicates absolute contraindications; categories 2 and 3 indicate relative contraindications).
