Treatment of Type I lepra reactions

(Type IV hypersensitivity)

Type II - Lepra Reactions

. Only analgesics may be used for pain

. But in case there is any suspicion of an

impending motor paralysis or severe neuritic pain, corticosteroids must be used without hesitation.

. Patient having pustular or ulcerative ENL, acute neuritis, orchitis, ritis, or arthritis must be promptly hospitalized and treated with a high dose of corticosteroid

. Drug of choice is thalidomide
