- Frusemide blocks positive & as well as negative free water clearance. The reason is that due to vigorous dieresis; there is activation of tubulogomerular feedback.
- Severe hyponatremia or mental status changes may require treatment with hypertonic (3%) or normal saline infusion together with furosemide, to enhance free water clearance.
