During laryngoscopy and intubation which of the maneuver is not performed:
|A||Flexion of neck|
|B||Extension of head at atlanto-occipital joint|
|C||The laryngoscope is lifted upwards levering Lower the upper incisors|
|D||In straight blade laryngoscope the epiglottis is lifted by lip|
The laryngoscope is lifted upwards levering lower the upper incisors
a. Laryngoscopy requires flexion at cervical spine and extension at atlanto-occipital joint and this can be An achieved by putting a 6-8 cm pillow below the occiput.
b. Macintosh curved blade draws the epiglottis forward ain from vallecula while straight blade lifts the epiglottis (because epiglottis in newborn is large and leafy).
c. Upper incisors are most vulnerable to damage by laryngoscopy so laryngoscope should not be levered against them.
