Examples of type I hypersensitivity is:
a. Type I hypersensitivity is also known as immediate hypersensitivity.
b. It occurs when antigen (allergen) binds with IgE antibody, which in turn is bound to mast cells, this leads to mast cell degranulation resulting in release of mediators like histamine, leukotrines, serotonin etc.
c. Examples include: hay fever, allergic asthma, allergic rhinitis, anaphylaxis, casoni’s test, PK reaction, Theobald Smith phenomenon etc.
