Exfoliative dermatitis (Erythroderma) - manifests as erythema and scaling involving 90% of skin surface along with chills and rigors, patient may develop pedal edema & CHF

A. Drugs - heavy metals, chloroquine or phenylbutazone’s, PAS, sulphonamides, thiacetazone, isonicotinic acid hydrazide, antidiabetic drugs

B. Skin conditions

1). Psoriasis, Pemphigus Foliaceus

2). Lichen planus, Ichthyosiform dermatosis

3). Pityriasis rubra pilaris

4). Generalized seborrhoeic dermatitis

5). Atopic dermatitis

C. Malignancy - Lymphoma such as Mycosis fungoides or Hodgkin's disease

D. Idiopathic (secondary to solid tumors of lung, liver, prostate, thyroid, colon).
