Gram Negative Bacilli
For paratyphoid fever, all are true except:
|A||Causes enteric fever|
|B||Incubation period 2-3 weeks|
|C||Carrier state not seen|
|D||Milder disease as compared to typhoid fever|
a. Carrier state can develop in both typhoid and paratyphoid fever.
b. Enteric fever is cause by Salmonella typhi, S. paratyphi A, B and C in decreasing order of frequency.
c. The incubation period ranges from 3-21 days.
d. Paratyphoid fever is generally milder as compared to typhoid fever.
e. Carriers-convalescent ( upto 3 wks after clinical cure), temporary (3 months to 1 yr) and chronic(more than 1 yr)
