Amino Acids, Proteins and Porphyrins
Glycine is used in the synthesis of (PGI)
[Note →Taurocholic acid — from Taurine, not from Glycine]
a. Heme is synthesized from succinyl CoA and glycine.
b. Purines: - Purine rings nitrogen’s are synthesized from N1 from Aspartate, N7 from Glycine and N3 and N8 form Amide nitrogen of glutamine
a. Bile Acids →synthesized from cholesterol:
i Taurine conjugates →Taurocholic acid and taurochenodeoxycholic acid
ii Glycine conjugates →Glycocholic acid and Glycochenodeoxy acids.
These all are primary Bile acids.
a.In human ratio of the glycine to taurine conjugates is 3:1
b. Glutathione is also synthesized from Glycine. It is → y-Glutamyl-cysteinyl-glycine.
c.Glycine, Arginine and methionine synthesize creatine PO4-.
