Human :Leukocyte Antigen (HLA) System
Located on a portion of chromosome 6. This is called major histocompatibility complex (MHC) or HLA complex.
a. Class I antigens have loci as HLA~A, HLA-B and HLA-C. These antigens are located on all the nucleated cells of the body and platelets.
b. Class II antigens have single locus as HLA-D, These antigens are found on macrophages, B cells and T cells. These have further 3 loci, DR, DQ and DP.
c. Class III antigens are some components of the complements system coded on HLA complex.
