Schedules:

  1. Pre exposure 0,7, 28 days
  2. Post exposure 0, 3, 7, 14, 28
  3. Re exposure within 5 yrs 0, 7
  4. Re exposure after 5 yrs : Full course. 

The cold chain:

  1. System of storage to Transportation of vaccines at low temperature from the manufacture to the actual vaccination site.
  2. OPV is the most heat sensitive, requires storage at – 20oCQ
  3. ‘T’ series vaccines: TT, DPT, DT, typhoid & Hepatitis B should nerve be frozen. Once frozen the aluminium salts which are used as adjuncts will get desiccated and act as instants which may results in sterile abscess.   

Placing Vaccines in Refrigerator

  1. Store IPV, MMR on the top shelf
  2. If diluent accompanies MMR, Hib vaccine within vial packaging, the diluent must be removed and   stored on the middle or next lower shelf
  3. All freezer sensitive vaccines should be stored on the middle shelves
  4. Diluent and emergency drugs can be stored on the lower shelves
