a. Goodpasture syndrome is a type I RPGN. The antibodies are directed against a particular protein found in the GBM, type IV collagen, specifically the noncollagenous region of its α3 chain.
b. Lesion is due to anti-glomerular basement membrane antibodies
c. The crescents are formed by proliferation of parietal epithelial cells and accompanying macrophages, neutrophils and lymphocytes
d. Immunofluorescence (line pattern) or radioimmunoassay for circulating anti GBM are diagnostic.
