Ans. A

The initial symptoms are indistinguishable from tuberculosis.

1). Histoplasma capsulatum is a dimorphic fungus.

2). Most affected individuals have clinically-silent manifestations and show no apparent ill effects.

3). The acute phase of histoplasmosis is characterized by non-specific respiratory symptoms, often cough or flu-like.

4). Chronic histoplasmosis cases can resemble miliary tuberculosis.

5). Disseminated histoplasmosis affects multiple organ systems and is fatal unless treated.
