In India most common cause of intracerebral calcification in children is: (AIPG 2011)
1. Tuberculoma is the most common cause of childhood intracranial calcification in India.
2. 50% of intracranial space occupying lesions in Indian children are due to tuberculoma.
3. Tuberculoma is always secondary to a primary tuberculous lesion elsewhere in the body.
4. It may present with vomiting, headache, cerebellar ataxia, focal onset seizures and visual disturbances.
Scanning of brain with CT scan or preferably MRI scan is the investigation of choice. Anti-tubercular chemotherapy should be started as soon as the diagnosis is made.
