a. Lymphogranuloma venereum is a sexually transmitted infection caused by C. trachomatis serotypes L1, L2 and L3. It is characterized by genital ulcer and involvement of local lymph nodes, which enlarge, suppurate and break down to form discharging sinuses.
b. In the late stages there is extensive scarring and lymphatic blockage which in women can be severe leading to rectal strictures and elephantiasis.
