Oncology and Fibroids

Treatment of fibroid during pregnancy:
1. No treatment is indicated in the majority of cases.
2. Myomectomy carries the risk of abortion and severe hemorrhage so it is indicated in the following conditions only:
a. Red degeneration which is not responding to the conservative treatment in the form of rest, analgesics, antibiotics to guard against secondary infection.
* Give progesterone before and after the operation and remove the affected tumor only.
b. Torsion of a pedunculated myoma.
c. Internal hemorrhage from rupture of a surface vein.
