Brodie’s abscess

  1. Localised form of Sub Acute Osteomyelitis.
  2. Occurs most oftenly in long bones of lower extremity.
  3. Before physeal closure, the metaphysis is most often affected.
  4. In adults metaphyseal epiphyseal area is involved.
  5. Causative Organism: S. aureus
  6. Intermittent pain of long duration is presenting complaint, along with local tenderness over affected area.
  7. X-RAY- Lytic area with surrounding sclerosis.
  8. Need To Differentiate From Neoplasms


  1. Curettage.
  2. Curetted material to be sent for biopsy
