Blood vessels of the cartilage
Long bones have three sources of blood supply vessels at the ends of the bone the epiphyseal and metaphyseal, usually one or two main arteries the proper nutrient arteries entering the diaphysis and the periostal vessels. The cartilage has no blood vessels.
