Most common cause for UTI in children less than 5 years is ? (AIIMS May 2014)
Urinary tract infection in children
a. The prevalence of UTIs varies with age
b. During 1st year of life, the mate female ratio is around 4: 1.
c. Beyond I -2 year, there is a striking female prepanderance with mare female ratio 1: 1 0.
d. In females 75 to 90% of all infections are caused by E. coli followed by Klebsiella and proteus.
e. Indication of voiding cystourethrogram (VCUG).
i. All children younger than 5 years with a UTI
ii. Any child with a febrile UTI
iii. School aged girls who have had two or more UTIs
iv. Any male with UTI.
f. Most common findings in vesicoureteral reflux, which is identified in approximately 40% of patiants.
