Herpes zoster also known as shingles is characterized by a unilateral vesicular eruption within a dermatome. It causes severe pain. The dermatomes from T 3 to Ls are most frequently involved. Herpes Zoster ophthalmicus results due to involvement of ophthalmic branch of the trigeminal nerve. The most common complication is post herpetic neuralgia.
