Most specific & sensitive for identification is: (AIIMS May 2013)

A Anthropometry
B Dactylography

C Skull
D Pelvis

Ans. B
Dactylography

a. (Dactylography or Finger-printing system is specific for every individual. It is even different in either of a pair of twins. Its sensitivity is- 1 in 64,000 million. While the DNA (in DNA finger-printing) of a pair of twins is exactly the same. Therefore, finger-printing is better than DNA finger-printing as a means of identification.

b. Anthropometry is measurement of physical data such as height, weight, etc of an individual.

c. The value of skull and pelvis in identification is mainly for determining the ‘sex’ of the person, and also ‘age’ to some extent.)

d. Blood grouping (for A,B,O,AB blood groups) is less reliable. Dentition is used more for age determination than for identification.

e. Neutron activation analysis is a technique used to detect radioisotopes (heavy metals) in firearm discharges.

f. Cheiloscopy is study of the lip-prints, not very specific as compared to Dactylography.
