Status epilepticus

- Is defined as a continuous convulsion lasting longer than 30 min or the occurrence of serial convulsion between which there is no return of consciousness.

There major subtypes

  1. Prolong febrile seizures β†’most common
  2. Idiopathic status epilepticus – when seizures develop in the absence of an underlying CNS lesion or insult generally due to withdrawl of anticonvulsant.
