Question
13 out of 20

Non functional plasma enzyme are all except: (AIIMS Nov 2008)

A ALP

B Prostate specific phosphatase

C Hormone sensitive lipase

D Lipoprotein lipase

Ans. D Lipoprotein lipase

Certain enzyme, proenzyme are present all time in circulation in normal individual and perform physiological function in blood. Example of these functional enzyme is lipoprotein lipase plasma also contains numerous other enzyme that perform no apparent physiological function in blood. These apparently NONFUNCTIONAL ENZYME arise from routine normal destruction of erythrocyte leucocyte and other cell. These are given below in table.

Serum Enzyme

Major Diagnostic Use

Aminotransferases

Aspartate aminotransferase (AST, or SGOT)

Alanine aminotransferase (ALT or SGPT)

Myocardial infarction

Viral hepatitis

Amylase

Acute pancreatitis

Ceruloplasmin

Hepatolenticular degeneration (Wilson’s disease)

Creatine kinase

Muscle disorders and myocardial infarction

γ - Glutamyltranspeptidase

Various liver diseases

Lactate dehydrogenase (isozymes)
