Not to be done in the management of COPD patient:
|A||CP AP (continuous positive airway pressure)|
|B||Flow rate of 8-10 liters during oxygen therapy|
|C||Low breath rate in patient on ventilator|
|D||High inspiratory flow in patient on ventilator|
Flow rate of 8-10 liters during oxygen therapy
COPD patients are dependent on their hypoxic drive, so during oxygen therapy a low flow rate (1-2 liters/min) should be maintained.
COPD patient should be put on ventilator on clinical judgement rather by blood gas values.
The patient on ventilator should be given low breath (6-8/minutes) and high inspiratory flows (80-100 L/min) to increase exhalation time.
