1. Hormonal causes:

a. Hypothyroidism

b. Hypogonadism: Hypogonadotropic hypogonadism. It causes abnormal deposition. Lack of anabolic steroid causes decrease muscle growth.

c. Growth hormone deficiency: Mild obesity

d. Pseudohypoparathrodism: This present as mental retardation, short stature, Moon shape facies, Stocky body, Bone abnormalities, Seizures (hypocalcemic).

e. Hypercortisolism or Cushing’s syndrome: Centripetal obesity, Hypertension, Violaceous striae on abdomen, decreased glucose tolerance, Poor growth.

f. Hyperandrogenic ovary syndrome (PCOD): Weight gain, Hirsutism, early virilism, Menstural irregularities.

2. Hypothalamic obesity:

a. Froehlich syndrome: Obesity, Short stature, Hyperphagia, Sexual infantilism and sometimes blindness.

b. Traumatic, inflammatogic or neoplastic lesions of hypothalamus and pituitary regions.
