Optic Nerve Glioma

  1. Common in children
    1. Females > males
    2. 25-30% patients have associated neuro fibromatosis –I (better prognosis)
    3. Presentation is generally with painless visual loss
    4.  Slow growing tumour; proptosis is a late features and generally eyeball is down and out or may be axial
    5. CT scan- Fusiform enlargement of nerve along with enlargement of optic canal
    6. Pathology -  Arises from astrocytes, Common variety is pilocytic
    7. Treatment- Observation , Surgery, Radiotherapy
