Complications Of PCNL:
The Most Common Complication Is Bleeding.
a. 1.Bleeding – venous bleeding is most common , it can be managed by clamping the nephrostomy tube for 30 to45 min. arterial bleeding is more serious problem, can occur either preoperative or in postoperative period.
b. Extravasation- normal saline should be used as the irrigation fluid to minimize adverse effect if extravasation occurs..
c. Retained fragments-on a post procedure film can be an unwanted finding. Reinsertion of the nephroscope will permit removal. Sometimes stones are extruded through the collecting system or noted in the perinephric tissues outside the kidney. It is not important to remove them.
d. UPJ Obstruction-
Percutaneous Surgery Is An Effective And Safe Method For the management of renal and urethral stones. Today its use has been restricted to situations in which results justify its invasive nature
