Extrahepatic portal venous obstruction
a. Normal portal venous pressure is 7 mm Hg.
b. Portal hypertension is defas an elevation of portal pressure

Causes of portal hypertension may be divinto -
a. Presinusoidal (Extrahepatic or prehsptic)
i. It is the most common cause of portal hypertension in chidern.
ii. It is due to portal vein obstruction from any cause.
b. Sinusoidal (Hepatic)
i. It is due to intrahepatic obstruction
ii. Most common cause is cirrhosis of lfrom any cause (viral or autoimmune hepatitis, wilson's disease).
c. Post sinusoidal (Post hepatic)
i. It is due to obstruction in hepatic vein or IVC e.g. Budd - Chiari syndrome.
