|C||Cetrimide + butyl alcohol|
|D||Cetrimide and cetavlon|
a. Cetrimide and chlorhexidine- It is a commonly used skin disinfectant. Cetrimide or cetrimonium bromide or cetavlon is a quaternary ammonium compound active against both gram positive and gram negative organisms.
b. These are cationic surface active agent acting on phosphate groups of cell membrane which increases permeability and also enter cell to denature proteins.
c. Phenolicus like chlorhexidine cause membrane damage which are active in the presence of organic matter but can be toxic to humans.
d. They are also corrosive in nature. Chlorhexidine (Hibitane) is a relatively nontoxic bisphenolic compound. It has been combined with cetrimide for broader antimicrobial effect in Savlon.
