Tinea-capitis

1). The predominant organism is T. tonsurans in USA and T. violaceum in India.

2). It occurs mainly in children and is very rare in adults

Clinical T. capitis can manifests in a variety of ways

1). Scaly grey patch, itchy area of alopecia, single or multiple patches

2). Black dot variety - caused by T. violaceum, T.tonsurans

3). Kerion (boggy swelling) caused by T. mentagrophytes, M.canis

4). Favus - caused by T. Schoenleinii
