Newer guidelines for reference Indian male are:
- An Indian reference man is b/w 18-29 yrs of age & weighs 60 kg.
- He is free from disease and physically fit for active work. On each working day he is employed for 8 hrs in occupation that involves moderate activity, spends 8 hrs in bed, 4-6 hrs sitting & moving around & 2 hrs in walking and in active recreation or household duties. His caloric intake is 2700 Kcal / d.
- All the parameters for a reference female is the same except that she weighs 55 kg, Caloric intake is 2200 Kcal / d and is described as healthy.
