Drug induced lupus erythematosus
a. A lupus like syndrome may develop in patients receiving a variety of drugs.
b. Procainamide and hydralazine are most common offenders.
c. Most patients do not have symptoms of lupus erythematosus.
d. Anti-ds DNA antibody is rare
e. There is an extremely high frequency of antihistone antibodies.
f. Although multiple organs may be affected renal and CNS involvement, usually does not occur.
g. Sex ratio is equal (in contrast to idiopathic SLE where females are affected more commonly).
