Vagal stimulation causes increase in (AIIMS NOV 2008)

A Heart rate
B R-R interval in EC

C Cardiac output (COP)
D Force of contraction

Ans. B R-R interval

I. R-R interval is the interval between the peaks of R wave of 2 consecutive QRS complexes.

II. Obviously, the R-R interval bears an inverse relationship with the heart rate.

III. Vagal stimulation causes bradycardia and therefore an increase in R-R interval.

IV. Vagal stimulation leads to bradycardia, hat is why in symptomatic bradycardia cases.

V. Patients are treated by giving injection atropine.

VI. Vagal stimulation leads to decrease COP & ejection fraction.
